Packaging Production

Each package needed to be individually folded and glued before sending it to the client.
The monitor that controls the printer showed an image of the final print with a progress line.

There were 200 of each type of package. We sorted them by color.

I was assigned a side quest at my job this week because they needed to rush a print job order, and the production manager had to be off-site for a few days for a different project. I had to print, cut, and fold 600 packages for a new business that my company started.

The printer could make 12 packages in one job, so we finished printing pretty quickly. The machine that cut the packages was interesting to me because I have never seen something like it before. In class, we cut our packages with a Trotec laser cutter, but the machine at my job used a blade to cut out each shape. It was so cool because it went so fast without making any mistakes. The longest part of the process was folding and gluing because we had to do that manually. This project confirmed that I really enjoy the production side of the design industry.
