One thing you learn early on as a designer is that your client is not always going to like the best design. I design a lot of materials for my friends and family, and often I find they don’t like the design I like most. I had a situation like this happen to me this week. I created an invitation for my church, and I thought it looked pretty cool, but they asked me to change it. My original design is on the left, with all the information on one poster and lots of fun colors. I was told that it looks like a coupon, and it is too fun for the occasion, which was honestly valid. They also wanted two separate invites, so the middle and right designs are the two final invites that were sent out. I personally think those two are more bland, but it was what the church wanted from me.
