and…Action

I have been using Photoshop a lot more recently, so I have needed a few reminders to refresh my brain on how to do some things. For example, today I relearned how to record an action. An action is a way to automate a sequence of events that you need to repeat a few times. I was creating an action because I had to mask a group of photos for a collage I am making, and after masking them, I needed to save each one individually as a PSD file in CMYK mode, with 300dpi, and give it a name. This is a simple task that is time-consuming when you need to do it for multiple files, so that is when an action comes in handy. To record an action, you select Window>Action. Once you are in the Actions panel menu, select New Action. In the new dialog box that pops up, you will need to give the action a name, select the set you want it to go to (otherwise it will go to Default Actions), and assign it a color. Then you can hit record, and this is where you perform the steps of the action you want to create. After you have done the steps, select stop recording, and your action is created.
