I enjoy spending time studying and admiring art and design outside of school as well. One of my favorite places to look for inspiration is an app called Cosmos. It is sort of like Pinterest, but it is more art-focused. Another platform that I see a lot of design content on is TikTok. The algorithm knows what I enjoy. I find it really helpful when designers post tutorials on the Adobe software. One trend that I have seen a lot of is poster design. A lot of creators that I follow who are even just beginning graphic design are teaching themselves to use Photoshop by creating a poster a day. I find it fascinating how every artist thinks differently, and it is really cool to see how different the design process is for everyone. A visual element that I see consistently is added noise after a poster is finished to add a grainy effect, or even adding a paper texture on top to complete the look. I am a fan of this look, although I don’t think I am very skilled with adding that touch. It is kind of discouraging to see beginner designers making such profound posters that I couldn’t comprehend how to even start to make, but it is still cool to see for inspiration.
